Pharmaceutical Bulk Drug Manufacturing Company

This is a pharmaceutical bulk drug manufacturing company located in Doddaballapur which faced severe environmental issues from phenolic wastes. This waste was generated during manufacturing of Asprin and salicylic acid. The phenolic waste being reddish brown in colour was found to enter the water underground and contaminate the bore well 10 kms from the factory in doddaballapura town.As a result of this contamination over a period of 5 years, KSPCB has closed down the industry for 10 years and above. Like wise BESCOM and other services withdrew their facilities.

Solution :- The industry approached M/s CAPS in 2000 and requested them to provide a solution to handle the waste and reopen the industry. By 2003 all the statutory agencies withdrew their closure orders and the industry hit the market by 2003 end.

Bulk Drug Manufacturing Unit

A bulk drug manufacturing unit faced public notice to be awarded in leading newspapers for want of plant expansion. The industry was not in agreement with this media coverage and hence contacted CAPS to convince KSPCB in cancelling their public notice and Accord approval for plant expansion. M/s CAPS had a detailed technical deliberations/discussions involving scientists from IISE Bangalore University, Toxicology department where from it was suggested and proven that on account of the new expansion, the waste load on air and water mainly did not add and hence the treatment plants in the factory located was sufficient to handle the waste. Hence, No public notice was required which was accepted by Technical Advisory Committee of KSPCB, Bengaluru, 2006.

Pharma Formulation unit

This is a Pharma Formulation unit, Swedish based unit located in Yelahanka Bangalore wherein the company under took massive expansion. On account of this M/s. CAPS conducted 24 hours Wastewater composite sampling over one month at various hydraulic loads. Thereby generating reliable waste characteristic data for ETP plant installation, 2005.

Bulk Drug Unit

The company located on the Bangalore – Mysore road. It is a bulk drug unit that was closed down by the Pollution Control Board authorities for want of not meeting the discharge limits of the treatment plant. Once again M/s. CAPS demonstrated sufficient plant capacities available and thereby got the industry reopen. Once again the industry had to face the TAC for Technical deliberation. M/s CAPS was able to upgrade the plant meeting KSPCB standards.,2010
